LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief executive Wasim Khan has announced a donation of Rs 1.5 million from his personal expenses to help former cricketers, match officials, scorers and other employees including groundsmen.

The PCB has come under fire in recent days for paying high salaries to senior officials, firing low-grade employees and then reversing decisions. Chief Executive Wasim Khan had expressed regret and apology over the decision to fire the employees, while now he has also announced to donate to the fund.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Executive Wasim Khan has said that he has personally decided to provide financial assistance to the troubled players, match officials and ground staff. It has already been set up to assist other employees, including players, match officials and ground staff.

"It has been a tradition in the past to increase the salaries of PCB employees annually, but on the contrary, we have decided to further reduce our expenditure for the next 12 months. It has been decided to increase the salaries of employees with a salary of Rs. One lac or less, which will be implemented in the new financial year starting July 1.

Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Ehsan Mani has also appreciated Wasim Khan's initiative, saying that it is commendable of Wasim Khan to go ahead and set an example.
